What is Google Page Layout Algorithm?

Search Giant Google always try to improve freshness and quality of search results. In past few years, we have seen many new algorithmic changes by Google that affected the traffic of many websites. Google Panda, Google Penguin, Exact Match Domain (EMD) and Google Page Layout Algorithms are the main. Most of the time, these algorithm change the way we do SEO of our blog.

On webtips, I have covered all the aspects of Google Panda, Google Penguin and EMD. Now I want to tell something about Google’s Page Layout algorithm. Its not a major update and has less effect on websites, but It is also an important algorithm and we must consider it while designing our blog layout.
Why Google Care about the Page Layout of Your Website?
As I already said, Google is trying to make search results better with fresh websites that generate contents for visitors. But there are so many websites which has too much advertisements for generating revenue. They never care about their visitors. Google is never against the advertisement but it says that content must be easily visible. You can have a limited amount of ad that can satisfy your revenue and your visitors. Above the fold is the main part that gets users’ attention. So many website owners use that part to display ads. So visitors need to scroll down the page to see the content. This is what Google hates?
Which Websites Are Affected by Google Page Layout Algorithm?
As I explained in last section, Google hates those website have tool much advertisements on above the fold. To improve the user experience, Google is giving less importance to those websites which have too much ads. Google says that there must be a proper ratio of ads to content. Content must be visible so that visitor can distinguish between content and ads.
“we’ve heard complaints from users that if they click on a result and it’s difficult to find the actual content, they aren’t happy with the experience. Rather than scrolling down the page past a slew of ads, users want to see content right away. So sites that don’t have much content “above-the-fold” can be affected by this change,” Google explained.

How to Protect Your Website from Google Page Layout Algorithm?
Although, Google Page Layout algorithm gets less updates, we must not forget it.
