Steps to Add Meta Tags to Blogger Blog

1: Login to your blogger blog and in the dashboard, select your blog.

2: Find “Settings” at the left side bar and select “Search Preferences.” Here you will see the first option “Meta tags”. By default, this option is Disabled. You need to enable it. Click on Edit link and then Enable this option. Write the meta description for the blog.

3: Once you have enabled this option, you will also see a new option “Search Description” while writing a new post or editing a post. Here you can add meta description for individual posts.

There is one drawback of using blogger. You can not have different meta tags for different posts. All your post will carry same meta keyword and description tags.

Now you will have individual meta description for blog and posts. Google ignore meta keywords tag. So, it did not add any option for that. Meta Description also has no value for SERP, but it can increase CTR in search results. So, add the description in the way which attracts visitors to your blog. Most of the times, Google automatically generate search snippet from the content of your blog post.

Even if Blogger allows you to add meta description and customize the permalink, I still recommend self-hosted WordPress. WordPress allows you to have control over your blog, content and monetization.
