Instagram has now started rolling out an option that allows uses download their entire data if they want. This step came after Facebook faced criticism for Cambridge Analytica data scandal and new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). What ever be the reason, now you can download your Instagram data including photos, videos, archived Stories, profile, info, comments, and non-ephemeral messages before you delete Instagram account.
It doesn’t start downloading right away but asks an email address and takes your request. Download link will be send to your given email address within 48 hours. If you are not sure how to download Instagram data, this article will explain everything.
How to Download Your Instagram Data
For now, the feature is available on Instagram for web. The company has promised to bring it for apps as well in coming days. If you want to download your data, visit Instagram.com on your web browser and login into your Instagram account.
Once you are logged in, click on profile icon at the top right side.
On profile page, click on gear icon and select ‘Privacy and Security’
In this page, you see an option Data Download. Click on Request Download link.
It asks for an email address to send you the data. By default, you see registered email address in that field but you can change if you want to receive download link to any other email address.
After you requested the data download, it will suggest you to wait for up to 48 hours and go to your Instagram feed. Once the data is ready to download, you will receive a download link to your email address.
I received the email address in 16 house after making the request and the downloaded data included photos and son files having history, connections, contacts and settings.
