WhatsApp now added a new privacy option that gives users control over who can add them in a WhatsApp group. You can either block in completely for all users or enable just for your contacts. Stop people from adding you in a WhatsApp group

Open WhatsApp app and tap on three vertical dots at the top right side to open menu options. In menu options, select Settings.

Now select the ‘Account’ and then tap on ‘Privacy’. Now find out the option ‘Groups’ and tap on it.

Here, you see three options: Everyone, My Contacts, Nobody. If you select ‘Everyone’, any person having your phone number can add you in a WhatsApp group. Select option ‘My Contacts’ just allows your contacts to add you in a WhatsApp group. The last option blocks anyone from adding you in WhatsApp group.

You can select an option depending on your choice. I have set it to ‘Nobody’. So, no person can add me to any group. If anyone wants to, he/she will have to ask me personally. That gives me control over what WhatsApp group I really want to join.
