How to use Back Tap gestures on the iPhone

iPhone Back Tap

Apple added the Back Tap gesture on iPhone that lets users perform actions by tapping the back of the iPhone. One can enable actions on double-tap or triple-tap. That means tap twice on the back of the iPhone to perform an action like capturing a screenshot or opening the Control Center. The same goes for triple tap. This feature is available to all iPhone models running iOS 14 or later.

Here are the devices that are getting Back Tap feature.

  • iPhone X
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone Xs and Xs Max
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 and later (Not yet launched)

Enable Back Tap gestures on iPhone

To enable Back Tap and configure Back tap actions, follow these steps.

Open the Settings app and tap Accessibility. Then tap Touch and look for the Back tap.

Here you can set Double Tap or Triple Tap actions.

Follow the same steps and select None to disable the Back Tap actions.

Wrap Up

This feature is really interesting and lets you perform quick actions just by tapping the back of your iPhone. I added triple tap to capture the screenshot and double tap to open Control Centre. So, I don’t need to use two hands for doing any of these things. It saves both time and effort.
