Integrate Twitter in WordPress with Official Twitter Plugin

Twitter is popular microblogging website and a good source of traffic. This is why bloggers take care of Twitter sharing options. For better integration of Twitter with WordPress, Twitter finally launched a plugin for WordPress. I am sure you are not so excited because there are already so many WordPress plugins for Twitter. But you can try this official plugin if you are not using any third-party plugin. Use of third-party plugin is popular because those plugin offers multiple integration. So, we can integration Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon and other social media sharing buttons with single plugin.

But, there is nothing bad in checking what Twitter brought for bloggers. I installed Twitter for WordPress plugin to see what we can do with this plugin and how beneficial it is.

Twitter for WordPress lets you optimize your website for Twitter. You can quickly add share buttons, embed buttons, follow buttons, Twitter cards and Twitter analytics. Installation does not need any configuration. Just activate the plugin. It also adds a separate settings page from where you can customize various things. You can check the below screenshot.

Just by customizing these option, you can easily integrate Twitter in your WordPress website. You can add your Twitter username. It will be shown to people sharing your posts as a suggestion to follow your account. In this way, it will encourage people to follow you. You can also set where to put the Twitter sharing button.

There is nothing new in this plugin. There are already so many plugins which offer similar kind of features and few plugins are much better than the official one. But you can try this once.

I was expecting Twitter to give some kind of advanced features. But this plugin is very basic. I am not sure why Twitter decided to bring this very basic plugin. I do not think people will try this plugin for long time. I just tested this plugin to see what it brings. But, there is nothing in this plugin which can force me to use it for long time.

I also do not recommend the use of this plugin. You can check other social media sharing plugins for WordPress. These plugins offer better results.
