Penguin 2.0In past few days, people were talking about latest Penguin update. This new update was rumored to be called Penguin 2.0. Now it is not a rumor and the Penguin 2.0 update is live. Matt Cutts has announced that Google has pushed the Penguin 2.0 update on Wednesday. This is the fourth Penguin update.

“We started rolling out the next generation of the Penguin webspam algorithm this afternoon (May 22, 2013), and the rollout is now complete. About 2.3% of English-US queries are affected to the degree that a regular user might notice. The change has also finished rolling out for other languages world-wide. The scope of Penguin varies by language, e.g. languages with more webspam will see more impact,” Matt Cutts said.

Penguin 2.0 is released to impact the larger part of back hat spam. Affected websites will see changes in SERP in coming hours and days. This time, we can expect major changes in search results after this update. Matt also sid that 2.3% of english queries will be impacted by this update.

Matt Cutts gave hint about Penguin 2.0 back earlier this month when he said on Twitter, “we do expect to roll out Penguin 2.0 (next generation of Penguin) sometime in the next few weeks though.”

He also mentioned this update is a webmaster help video.

If your website is affected with this new Penguin 2.0, you should now change the link building strategy. As I always suggested, we should never buy our sell links passing Page Rank juice. If you think you have too many SPAM links that you never created, you should use Disavow tool to remove those spam backlinks.

Now, you are not allowed to use any kind of backhat trick to improve your SERP or pagerank. You should avoid link building mistakes. Linkbuilding is an important part of SEO but we should always try to get natural backlinks from the website of same niche. Avoid selling  links passing page rank juice and avoid buying links as well. If you have already added so many paid links passing page rank, now it is the time to make all those links nofollow.
