How to Record Your Computer Screen Using YouTube

There are many screencasting or screen recording tools available for Windows and Mac computers. I have also shared the list of best screencasting tools in past. While these tools work fine, you need to install these tools on your system before you use it. But, what if you do not want to install any tool. Well, YouTube can help you in this case. It allows you to record your computer screen.

YouTube has a feature which lets you record your computer’s screen and show it to the world via video. You can use this to record screen using Youtube.

How to Record Your Computer Screen Using YouTube

Follow these steps to record your computer screen using YouTube.

Visit YouTube and login to your account. After this, you see a “Upload” button on the top-right corner of the page. Click on it.

Now, you see standard YouTube uploader with a sidebar at the right side. Here, in the sidebar, click on “Get Started” button in the “Live Streaming” section.

In next screen, see the left sidebar and select “Events” from the “Live Streaming” menu option.

On the next screen, click on “New Live Event” button at the top-right corner of the screen. If this is the first time, it says “Create Live event” in a different kind of screen

Now, it asks you to fill the detail of your new live event. Fill the information and make sure you set it to be private. Fill the name, description, tag and other details. Set it to private and select “Quick” in type.

Once you are done with selecting the above options, click on the button “Go live now” to start broadcasting your event and start screen recording.

It will also ask if you are ready to start the live event. Click on “OK” to move forward.

Now, it opens Google Hangouts which lets you record your video. IN this, you have an option “Screenshare” which lets you share your screen in the live event. Use this to share your screen and record it

Click on this icon to select the screen which you want to share. It will give you option for all open windows. You can select any specific of the entire computer.

Once you are ready, click on “Start Broadcast” button at the bottom of screen to start the recording. It will also ask to confirm. Click Ok here and start recording your screen.

Now you can do your tasks and it will be recording your activities. Once you are done with all activities, you can click on “Stop broadcast” in the bottom of the screen, and the screen recording will be stopped.

Once you are done, it will show you the links to your recording. You can use the given links to see the video. You can even download it by using YouTube downloaders and then edit it as per your needs.\

Final Words

The only issue with this process is that you have limited options. As the video is recorded and saved directly to YouTube, you only have YouTube editor to edit it before final publishing. So, you have limited options. It is good if you need something urgent and do not want to download a new tool. But, I still recommend you to go with dedicated screen recording toos.
