Yesterday, Google has launched its much awaited Disavow links Tool. This tool allows webmasters to tell Google about those spam backlinks which they do not want to be counted. This tool was talked much after the Penguin Update which hits the blogs having more number of spam links. After the launch of Google Penguin, many websites lost their ranking due to backlinks coming from spam website. This algorithm aims to penalize website which buy bulk links or do link spam.

As we know that penguin penalize spam links, people want to clean their spam links as soon as they can. But it is not possible to contact all such spam websites and request them to take down the links. To make this process easier, Google has launched Disavow links tool.
How Google Disavow links tool will Help Web masters
Earlier, there was no way to control spam links. You need to email the owner of the website and then request him to remove the links. In most of the cases, spam website owner is hard to reach. So you can not use this email method to remove the link.
Google Disavow link tool is the way to protect your blog or website from these spam websites even if these links exists. If a website got hit by negative SEO or penguin update, this tool will surely help to get out of it and get back its position again.

If you’ve done as much work as you can to remove spammy or low-quality links from the web, and are unable to make further progress on getting the links taken down, you can disavow the remaining links. In other words, you can ask Google not to take certain links into account when assessing your site.
How to use Google Disavow Links Tool
The complete process of removing spam links with this tool involves too step process. First of all download the list of links to your website. Then mark those links which you think as spam.
Before going to use this tool, you need to know an important thing about this tool:
This is an advanced feature and should only be used with caution. If used incorrectly, this feature can potentially harm your site’s performance in Google’s search results. We recommend that you only disavow backlinks if you believe you have a considerable number of spammy, artificial, or low-quality links pointing to your site, and if you are confident that the links are causing issues for you.
To download the links to your website, Go to Webmaster tools page and select the website. Click on the Traffic at the left side and then click on Links to your website.
Create a new text file and write one links per line. If you want Google to ignore all links from an entire domain(Suppose domain.com), add domain: example.com in the file.
After you have added all the links in the file, go to disavow links tool page. Select the website for which you are going to upload the links file. Now click Disavow links, select this file containing list of spam links and then upload.
After uploading the file, you can also send reconsideration request to Google and mention that you have uploaded Disavow link text file. Google will take 1-2 week to reindex and recrawl those pages.
I will suggest not to use this tool if you do not know much about technical part of the SEO. In case, you have disavowed a wrong link, you can drop the rank of your website.
